About the classical milestones

The Vedic and Vaishnava traditions describe specific count thresholds at which the practitioner is said to have "established" themselves in the mantra:

  • 1 lakh (100,000) - the traditional anushthan completion. Many sankalps end at this number with a final havan (fire ceremony).
  • 10 lakh (1 million) - the practice has become a part of one's identity. The mantra runs on its own.
  • 1 crore (10 million) - the lifetime aspiration. At 16 malas (1,728) daily, this takes about 16 years.

These are aspirational numbers, not requirements. The Bhagavata says even one sincere repetition at the moment of death liberates. But the counts represent something real: the cumulative weight of devotion, the literal time spent in remembrance, the depth that emerges only through long sustained practice.

How the tracker works

All counts are stored privately on your device (localStorage). Nothing is sent to any server. If you use the counters on a different device or clear your browser data, the count resets - so consider this a tool for ongoing motivation rather than a permanent ledger.

For a permanent ledger, traditional practice is to maintain a paper diary or a simple notes file alongside the digital tracker.
